Attempt 004 at Everyday Mama - Motherhood is a solo trip

I know you have heard this way too many times but it still holds good right? I had this hammered into my head somewhere when I was feeding Baby A in the night or maybe morning (I couldn't really say). That's the thing, it is at a time when night blurs into morning that you feel lonely and vulnerable. It is at times when the baby is crying and no matter how close you hold him/her to your heart their whole body just wont stop turning red. Like they are hurting really bad and you feel helpless. It is at times when you carry them at 2:00 AM in the morning, comforting them back to sleep. It is at times when they are teething and you have to nurse their pain stifling yours. No one  warns you that you are going to motor on this solo trip for a lifetime.

Baby A and I had a rather tough week and weekend. Sleep regression, poop problems, ant bites and a scorching sun. Just when I thought I had a major motherhood win with his sleep routine, everything just went downhill last week. Baby A is a minimal fuss baby who keeps to himself if feed and rested well. It was extremely challenging for our poor little guy to grasp what was going on around him (over stimulation and growth spurt) and we bring typical parents couldn't give him the space he needed. We took him out to visit relatives (new environment and new faces), let him be carried around by completely new people and not to forget an extremely loud TV in the background (our place is a minimal TV zone). This led to a tired mama and an overtired baby A that ended up having long nights with lots of crying (both) and pulling our hair out.

It is at one of these moments I remembered how I was rolled into the OT to deliver Baby A. I left my family, my lovely husband behind the doors and waited all alone to deliver and hold my baby. It is from this moment I have been on a journey, an adventure, a solo trip called motherhood. But so is it for our baby. They are on an adventure too and they are working really hard to figure things out too. Maybe if we carpool, it wont be hard after all.

I love you Baby A for you don't judge me when I'm at my weakest and you know inside-out (quiet literally). We are going to have many more of these hard weeks but we have got each other and Papa K.
